About Us

In 1994 Jonathan Gray followed in his fathers footsteps and started his journey into the fire service. By fall of 2002 he was a full-time EMT-I and a few months later a full time Firefighter/EMT-I in the “Smallest City in New Hampshire”.  As his career advanced he took a position with a larger fire department on the Seacoast of New Hampshire were he currently holds the title of Firefighter/Engineer.

Throughout his career he recognized that there were a lot of leather items on the market of varying levels of quality. That level of quality can truly make a difference in both day to day usage and during an emergency. In 2015 he launched 190 Leatherworks.  Recognizing that all quality products need a name to back up the workmanship, the name “190” was chosen as it is his firefighter badge number and what his reputation is based on.

In the first decade of business he quickly realized that small-batch, quality, hand crafted products were where he wanted to find his niche and what he was willing to put his name behind. To this day he continues to hand craft each and every piece from scratch using USA raised cow hides and often using hand set solid copper rivets. He crafts every item with his own hands so that a high level of quality can be maintained. Always producing something that he himself would be willing to spend his hard earned money on.
